time best spent

When the family is town all I want to do is play all day.  Knowing that there my family is out there doing something fun while I’m stuck at work is some kind of weird torture. Tonight, my aunt, uncle, and cousin plus my brother and mom came down for a quick dinner of pizza.  They claimed to want to visit but I think the real reason everyone made the trek was for the allure of the local Ikea. We take what we can get down here. It’s been the best being able to catch up with family face to face instead of over the phone. We have one more fun day planned before everyone goes back to the real world.  Trying to get over cold #142,859 of the season before the weekend hits. Phew! &nbsp…

Santorini

We have had mostly quiet and wondrously lazy weekends at home lately.  It was finally decided that the house projects should begin again so once warm weather eventually arrives we can focus our attention on perfectly the backyard. However, football has complicated the weekend schedule for the past month or so.  The bedroom may finally get painted on this off weekend before the Super Bowl and I’m so excited!  Next up, the barn door.. then caulking of all the bathrooms.. then… With some spare time on our hands and hearing of the many adventures of the younger sibs we’ve been reminiscing about great vacations of our past. Before going to Europe a year ago, I started dreaming about Santorini.  Probably even before Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants came out (which is close to 1o years ago) I had dreams of visiting the beautiful island with beautiful blue domed roofs.  So naturally, when the trip to Europe became a reality it was the top of the list.   It was gorgeous. We actually stayed at/in Perissa Beach (black sand beach) because it was much cheaper than staying in Oia (the city with the beautiful domed…

Welcome Home!

This guy got home this week. Yes, home as in to the family in Denver, but also home as in America! This fabulous guy has spent the past six months serving our country overseas. While I am so proud of all he does, it’s good to have him back. They’re playing it chill here, but the twins were almost as excited to meet him as I was to see him again…

Currently

Currently its 10:17 PM and I’m staring at my computer screen in bed.  Which is terrible I know.  Especially since it’s not my bed because this is the state of our room… (Warning: The below pictures are a graphic representation of real life right now.  For one self-proclaimed neat freak and one wife wannabe the below situations are adding an unbelievable (unbelievable because we let messes, well, mess with us) of stress to our otherwise busy lives.) I wish we could say that our house had just been robbed (okay, I really don’t want to ever say that) but no.  This is mid-painting mid-week.  Which is the most terrible idea ever. Especially when paired with this… Which is called major closet and wardrobe overhaul.  The two paired together are a somewhat lethal combination but both needed to be done. Needed may be a very strong word but you know sometimes when your brain is cluttered with a million thoughts it helps to organize the tangible things. That is what’s going on. At least for the closet. The bedroom mid-week painting project is called for the…
