Currently Obsessing

I’m currently obsessing of getting away for a nice vacation!  Sometimes life gets more stressful than the situation deserves and it’s at that time that I know we need to get away.  While in reality, we probably won’t go anywhere until after the holidays, one of my absolute favorite past-times is planning our next adventure… Favorite European Trip Ideas-  Are you like me, and anytime you go somewhere you’re always looking for the best place of the beaten path?  All of these destinations look amazing, but Portugal really caught my eye.  While I can’t imagine a trip back to Europe for at least another year, we are always throwing around the idea of Spain.  While in Spain, why not swing by Portugal for a quick visit? Favorite Long Weekend Trip-  Santa Fe has won over our hearts and stomachs.  Our last trip has been a couple of years, and while it was in the books for a fall getaway- working on the patio ended up taking over.  Just thinking about a trip makes my mouth water for some delicious green chili.  Yum!   Island Vacation Dreaming-  I&#8217…

My Favorite Baby Shower

This past Sunday, we had the pleasure of hosting a baby shower for my sister-in-law.  Let’s be honest, the shower was at our house but between my mom, plus my sister-in-law’s mom and sister and aunt, I had very little work to actually do. Other than ensure the bathroom was in working order. And preferably on the cleaner side of things.  Unfortunately, somewhere in the middle of wandering around and making sure people could find their way to the aforementioned bathroom, I forgot to take pictures! We had 2 different craft stations set up in the house which were the activities in lieu of games.  Station number 1 had a basketful of diapers that people wrote sweet notes.. or at least funny notes.. for all the diaper changes that will come with twins.  Craft station number 2 had onsies and quilt squares with fabric markers… Sigh.  All things baby are so adorable. The house was full of love for the sweet babies that are coming.  (I call them ‘our’ babies…  I just can’t help it!) We kept the decorations pretty simple with all things fall because…

The Beginner’s Guide to the Perfect Roadtrip

I grew up road tripping around the country to visit family. From Minnesota to Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, and more. Then the family moved to Colorado and the trip through Nebraska to visit Megan at school became a fairly regular drive. Then the 13 hours from home in Denver to college in Minnesota became old hat. What I’m trying to say is that I’ve been on quite a few extended car drives, and there are a few things that make these trips more enjoyable. First, unless the intent of your trip is to get lost (which can be quite fun), make sure you know where you’re going. Megan and I got lost in Nebraska in an awful rainstorm late at night because the iPhone battery died. Getting lost can be an exciting adventure, but it can also be a miserable, frustrating ordeal. Go old school, print off directions, and buy a map. Chances are you won’t need them, but better safe than sorry. Second, get your tunes ready. I don’t know how many times I’ve driven across the entirety of Nebraska, but there are chunks of that state where…

Defeating the Cold

I haven’t turned the heat on in my apartment yet. It’s my way of proving that I haven’t caved under the pressure of Seattle’s rain and clouds. Rain and 55 for a solid week? Well, I haven’t even turned the heat on so take that Seattle! Yeah, I’ve been pretty proud of myself for my resiliency in the face of such weather. Then I glanced at my bank account and saw how much money I’ve been spending on coffee. Whoops. It turns out that I drink aaalllllll the coffee when I’m cold and the sky is cloudy. Think I’m exaggerating? On Friday, I went to Top Pot Doughnuts and got an Americano and a doughnut and another doughnut (I couldn’t bring myself to say I got two doughnuts, but saying a doughnut and another doughnut doesn’t sound much better…). On Saturday, I went to a friend’s and made coffee using her things (Saving money or taking advantage of a kind friend? Maybe both.) On Sunday, I got an Americano from Morsel and Bean. Three hours…
